Class description

Want to decorate your own patch or badge to add to a bag or clothing with stitching?  Here is your chance, choose your background colour and add some stitches to create a unique patch that can be added to a bag or worn.  The class will cover the basic embroidery stitches needed to create your unique creation along with finishing the item.

Biography

Nicole Gammie is an Australian textile artist combining hand made and designed bobbin lace with hand embroidery.  Learning and experimenting with lace and stitching began at an early age with numerous informal opportunities at school and in the community through classes and attending craft groups.  Living around much of south-eastern Australia provided chances to investigate a range of lace and embroidery techniques in greater detail and opening up possibilities.  Moving allowed Nicole to explore local areas inspiring her love of bright colours, geometry and nature.  It is in more recent times that Nicole has begun to explore the possibilities of combining bobbin lace and embroidery.  Numerous experiments followed and assisted the development of this missed media technique.  These explorations continue allowing the embellished lace to evolve with new ideas and possibilities often assisted and inspired by exhibition guidelines and criteria and nature.
