The opening night celebration and prize presentations, on Thursday 28 November 2024, was a wonderful evening shared with the local creative community. The prizes, as chosen by judges Jade Bitar, Nicole Bowller and Laura Jocic are:

First Prize ($1000 prize money, non-acquisitive):

‘Water Spirits’ by Bonnita Gillard

A series of sculptural mask works have been installed at the gallery in response to the elemental theme ‘WATER’. This new mask series by acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist Bonnita Gillard, extends her career practice of creating artworks with a deep spiritual connection to the land, folklore and personal emotive stories.

Three prints: one original edition | one limited edition (5) | one open edition : all exclusive to ‘Caelene nee Glen’ gallery. These works were selected by Caelene and SERIFA German artist-duo Natassja & Christian in response to the elemental theme "‘FIRE: Bloodflow of heart and aorta’. Natassja and Christian are using the AI realm as an artistic tool to produce emotive figurative works.

  • Installation performance shows the artist at work, painting evolving limited edition prints during the installation

  • Painted designs are prepared, yet a buyer can call ‘stop for me’ at any time to purchase the artwork prior to finalisation of painting process.
