Gender parity in Australia's arts sector
2019 was a wonderful year for women in the arts. Gender parity became front and centre as major museums and galleries acknowledged the inequality of representation in their collections and exhibition programs. The National Gallery of Australia committed to working toward a 50% representation of female artists in their public collection, as well as equality in exhibition programming.
Finklestein Gallery in Windsor opened its doors as the first female and female-identified only representing gallery in Australia.
#5womenartists became a social movement ensuring public recognition and personal acknowledgement of gender inequality.
At ilya collections, I will make a commitment to offering collection management services dedicated to gender equality.
